Quality Assurance As for the professional expectations related to the development and usage of test we regard normative the professional ethical codex accepted by the Hungarian Psychological Society and the Society’s recommendations. Certified and reliable psychological, and aptitude tests have to meet some basic criteria. Such psychometric basic criteria are the following: Objectivity: within defined circumstances it should provide results that are well applicable and repeatable and are independent from the instructor. The evaluation and interpretation of test results should not be influenced by subjective factors, but should be as unbiased as possible. For this reason it is important that there is an evaluation manual / guide or software to support this procedure.
Validity: the test and all its scales should really measure phenomena, trait that it was designed for and not something else, i.e. it should ensure valid results about the characteristics to be measured. That way it is assured to have valid conclusions and prognosis deducted from the results.
Reliability: measuring tools should gauge the given characteristic as reliably and precisely as possible. In other words, questions belonging to the same scale should gauge in “the same direction”, and a person’s results of different occasions should not fluctuate randomly.
Normalization: given that our knowledge about a person is closely related to that about others, personal results provided by the measuring tool should be represented in a standardised form that can show the deviation from the observed sample (even the whole population). In other words, based on this number it can be decided whether the result is “more”, “less” or “average” Beyond the general psychometric test criteria we find it important other requirements concerning workplace application. Tests used at workplaces cannot cover more than the necessary workplace needs. Neither in the content of questionnaire, nor in the results received (legal background: [1992. year XXII. law of Labour Code § 5 (1) section]).
The tests used should be legal. This applies for adapted test as well as for original versions. Supervision of different test characteristics (reliability, validity, normalization) should take place regularly what is inevitable in order to guarantee the quality. 2007 Psidium OnlineTesztek
